Real Change

JARVIS FOR IDAHO COMMITTEE

STATE REPRESENTATIVE SEAT A DISTRICT 21

5875 SOUTH LINDER ROAD MERIDIAN, IDAHO 83642

Hello, I'm Rich Jarvis and I am writing to my friends so they will be among the first to know about my intentions to run for the legislature. This is a very important and critical time to be involved in politics. I deeply hope that you will support my candidacy and make it possible for our successful campaign.

My top priority is to improve the quality of education in Idaho. I believe that educational priorities must focus on early childhood reading development, teaching basic academic skills, providing additional opportunities for students to excel, and in graduating students with employable skills. Our children should have the best learning opportunity that new generation technology and professional teachers can provide. With each child, we only have one chance to do it right.

The purpose of our public schools is to provide our children with the learning, the knowledge, the tools, and the motivation to succeed in the real world. In Idaho, nearly 3 out of ten students entering high school will not graduate on time or graduate at all. Many of the ills of society can be attributed to the breakdown of the family, the alarming school drop out rate, and the increased use of illegal drugs. We are seeing the results of our present system failures demonstrated by the need for more and more prisons.

I believe that Idaho's social and fiscal programs should reinforce parental responsibility and authority, and not promote or reward the disintegration of the family. The generational cycle of dependence and despair must be broken. The answer is in quality education, job opportunities, and individual and family responsibility.

Traditional family values are the foundation of our nation. Families, not government programs, are the best way to properly nurture and protect our children, care for our elderly, preserve and perpetuate our cultural and religious heritage, and assure that our traditional values are transmitted to the next generation.

My next priority is state government that promotes economic growth. We must create a business environment that supports development and expansion of businesses in Idaho by keeping taxes low, simplifying regulation, and having a well educated base of workers. Economic growth is the key to enhancing the quality of life by creating higher paying jobs.

Transportation is an integral part of commerce and industry. Our highways are essential for the movement of goods and people in the State of Idaho. I believe it is critical to provide adequate funding to maintain our roads and bridges. In addition to keeping up with scheduled maintenance which will save lives, we need to raise the bar and demand higher standards of vision, planning, and management which will save money.

As we look at the issues, we are all frustrated that we are experiencing a government that is not responsive to the needs of Idaho. We need to think of finding creative solutions to problems, not just managing “the existing bureaucracy”. Using the reasoning “because that’s the way we’ve been doing it” will probably get us the same results we have had in the past. “Real change” requires thinking “outside the box” to find innovative solutions that will increase efficiency and save money.

Sometimes we focus on limiting government, which is an enormous task, and not give enough serious thought on improving government. We need to demand from our government the high level of performance that the private sector entrepreneurs and workers achieve every day. I am for good government, for limited government, and for solution oriented government. I am against government incompetence, inefficiency, waste, and fraud.

Now is the time that we need “real change”, and I intend to be one of the leaders that will make a difference. I will need the close support from those who know me best and who believe that I will truly be their voice in government. If I am to have a successful campaign, I will need your vote, your encouragement, your voice, some of your time, and some help with the financial burden of running for office. I hope you know me well enough that you believe in me and want to join my cause to improve our state government.

Will you join with me in working for “real change”? Your contribution both in time and money will be greatly appreciated. It will be an honor to serve as your “Representative!” Email me now! Jarvisforidaho@gmail.com
